Director of R&D Strategy Implementation
Beijing, China
We need to grow in China to meet the huge patient need here and the development of our organization will enable this. Our primary emphasis is on integrating China trials as early as possible into global studies. This will help us to register and launch new drugs more quickly in China and provide additional clinical data for the approval process in other countries.
The strategic plan I developed with the support from other R&D functions was so well received by our management that they offered me the chance to go to China and implement it. Although I had never been to China before, I jumped at the opportunity.
There have been some cultural shocks since I arrived in Beijing, but overall it has been a thrilling and rewarding experience. Above all, I am impressed by how motivated employees in China are to establish this new R&D hub, how quick they are at learning and how easily they integrate into the global organization.
For me, “Living Science, Transforming Lives” is a sign of our commitment to people. It can be seen both in terms of applying the latest scientific advances to new therapies for patients and in the professional development of employees.
