Luveris® (lutropin alfa) is the world's first pure luteinizing hormone (recombinant human LH) for the treatment of female infertility. It is indicated for use in combination with human follicle-stimulating hormone (hFSH), like GONAL-f®, for the stimulation of follicles in the ovaries of women with severe LH and FSH deficiency. Luveris® is the only pure LH presentation, allowing physicians to precisely tailor LH administration to individual patient needs and offering greater treatment flexibility.
        The role of LH in the body
        Luteinizing hormone (LH) together with follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) is required for the development of a mature follicle, containing an egg capable of being fertilized. LH is responsible for the final maturation and subsequent ovulation of the egg. It may also provide support in the very early stages of pregnancy. Luveris® is recombinant human luteinzing hormone, which is equivalent in its structure to the naturally occurring human LH in the body. Luveris® is used in clinical practice to treat infertile women with severe LH and FSH deficiency.
