UFT® contains tegafur and uracil as active substances. UFT® is an oral 5-FU (5-fluorouracil) therapy that, in clinical trials, has demonstrated efficacy across a range of cancer types. Clinical trials demonstrate that UFT® with folinic acid (FA) is a feasible alternative to bolus intravenous 5-FU/FA in clinical practice, offering comparable efficacy, the convenience of an oral therapy and an improved safety profile. In addition to enhanced patient preference and a reduction in total resource use, UFT® overcomes the inconvenience of portable pumps and the risk of thrombosis and infections associated with intravenous administration.

UFT® with FA is registered in 60 countries for first-line treatment of patients with metastatic colorectal cancer. In countries outside Europe, UFT® is also approved in a number of indications that include colorectal, breast and gastric cancers.
